Inleiding
A significant proportion of all pollutants we inhale come from indoor spaces. This is worrying, as people spend on average 90 per cent of their time indoors. An unhealthy indoor climate has an impact on people's health and productivity and can lead to respiratory complaints, asthma, sleep problems, loss of concentration and cardiovascular diseases, among others. By creating a healthy indoor climate in homes, many of these health complaints are preventable, advocates Platform Healthy Indoors.
What is the PoA Healthy Homes?
Following the requirements for offices and schools, the Programme of Requirements for Healthy Homes now provides the construction sector with clear guidelines for achieving a healthy indoor climate in homes. Based on the latest scientific insights and best practices, performance requirements in the areas of air, climate, light and noise have been formulated. The Binnenklimaattechniek Knowledge Centre guideline was developed in collaboration with Binnenklimaat Nederland, TU Eindhoven, BBA Binnenmilieu and TNO.
The Consumer Guide Healthy Homes
Looking for a practical and non-technical guide on healthy living? For private homeowners or tenants, there is the Healthy Homes Consumer Guide prepared by the Healthy Indoors Foundation. This guide is specifically for private individuals who like to learn about the importance of a healthy indoor climate and are looking for practical tools to improve their homes. The content of the guide is based on the Programme of Requirements (PoR) Healthy Homes. Knowledge centre Binnenklimaattechniek made the Schedule of Requirements Healthy Homes available as the content basis for this guide and expresses its appreciation for the creation of this accessible translation, which allows residents to take steps towards a healthier home in an accessible way.
